Industrial relations
The Industrial Relations Department consists of the Industrial Relations (IR) Council and the Employability Workgroup.IR Council
Key Objectives
Protective workers’ rights and providing effective workplace advice are the core functions of UWEEI. The IR Council formulates and implements policies and guidelines as well as oversees all industrial relations matters. It also promotes and strengthens tripartism and good Labour Management Relations to foster a stable and harmonious industrial climate conducive to investments and creates employment and good jobs for workers.

Employability Workgroup
The Employability Workgroup aims to enhance the employability of workers in the electronic and electrical sector. It advocates skills training, re-skilling, and re-deployment for the betterment of workers'’ lives and their families. The Employability Workgroup has also been working with e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) to engage management partners to implement productivity-driven projects to enhance the company’s overall productivity.
Tripartism
Tripartism is a key competitive advantage for Singapore, underpinning its economic competitiveness, harmonious labour-management relations and overall progress of the nation.
Some of the key tripartite concerns include issues such as job re-creation, raising the effective retirement age, skills training and upgrading of the workforce, promotion of fair employment practices, and a flexible wage system, among other things.
UWEEI organises CEO luncheons and Union-Management forums annually for the tripartite partners (Government agencies and management partners) to come together to discuss issues relevant to the industry.

The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) is a national confederation of trade unions in the industrial, service and public sectors representing over 500,000 workers in Singapore. NTUC's objectives are to help Singapore stay competitive and workers remain employable for life; enhance the social status and well-being of workers; and build a strong, responsible and caring labour movement. NTUC's vision is to be an inclusive labour movement for all collars, all ages and all nationalities.
The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) was established in 1980. SNEF is a trade union of employers dedicated to preserving industrial harmony and helping employers achieve excellence in employment practices, to enhance productivity, competitiveness and the quality of their employees' work life. With the support of over 2,000 corporate members, SNEF is an active player in facilitating the tripartite partnership among the Government, employers and unions.
