Job Placement

UWEEI seeks to assist our retrenched members and fellow workers in the electrical & electronic industries by linking them to the various job placement services that NTUC is providing. The following chart refers to how a potential job seeker can secure a job:

Exploring Job Search Channels

Before you actually start to look for a job, you need to spend some time to assess your priorities, skills, personality, interests and values. This will help you to be focused in your search for a job.

If you are looking for a job in the same industry, go beyond the traditional avenues like the newspapers:

talk to friends, relatives and ex-colleagues
surf job sites on the Internet
contact employment agencies
attend job fairs
approach any of the CareerLink Centres

You should also be realistic and flexible in your expectations, such as salary and working environment. Be open to new job opportunities even if it means having to retrain to enter a career or an industry in which you are unfamiliar with.
